Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are known also as Ridge Meadows. The area is a federal electoral district in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, and has organizations such as the local Chamber of Commerce treating the region as one for economic growth purposes. The region is popular for the bountiful array of nature surrounding the area, specifically the Golden Ears Provincial Park, the Golden Ears mountains, and the Pitt Lake river area.
Maple Ridge
Maple Ridge borders Langley and Surrey, and is further defined by the Pitt and Fraser River. The topography is hilly, offering great wilderness opportunities as well as a network of trails and parks. First incorporated as a district in 1874, Maple Ridge covers a little over 30,000 acres. As of March 26, 2014, Maple Ridge changed from a district municipality to a city municipality. This reflects the transformation of Maple Ridge from a rural suburb to an up and coming densifying urban city in its own right with a high level of presale condo and new home development. The population of Maple Ridge currently sits at 90,900.
Pitt Meadows
With a growing population of almost 20,000, Pitt Meadows is located in the Lower Fraser Valley, east of Vancouver, and sits on the western border of Maple Ridge, nestled between the mighty Fraser River and the majestic Golden Ears mountains.
